JCF seeks another foreign officer
published: Friday | January 12, 2007

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is seeking another overseas cop to assist crime fighting in the island.

An officer is being sought to fill the role of an assistant commissioner of police (ACP) to head the Anti-Corruption Unit that is currently a part of the the Professional Standards Branch.

If this position is taken up by an overseas officer, this would bring to five, the number of foreign officers working within the JCF.

According to the force's Director of Human Resources and its Auxiliaries, Robert Rainford, this position is part of a decision to bring the Anti-Corruption Branch to the fore.

"The officer we are looking for would create in the eyes of the public that there is transparency as to how we approach corruption in the JCF," said Mr. Rainford.

The officer who is being sought from the United States, Canada or the United Kingdom will report directly to the Commissioner of Police, Lucius Thomas.

Foreign nationals currently working in the JCF are: ACP Les Green, who heads the Organised and Serious Crime unit; ACP John McLean in charge of Community Safety and Security; ACP Paul Robinson, who heads Firearm Training and Coastal Security; and Deputy Commissioner of Police Mark Shields who is in charge of crime.
