Album synopsis:
Port Antonio Virgin is the latest release by local Jamaican artiste, Farenheit, and is the follow-up to his first album, Fringe to Fore, released in 1998. In all, Port Antonio Virgin is a good follow-up to Fringe to Fore as it is a well compiled album that consists of 15 tracks and one interlude that all flow coherently with each other. This coherence of tracks shows that much effort was put into the album especially into its arrangement.
Farenheit has raised the bar since his debut album by featuring collaborations on the album from the likes of Sizzla, Sean Paul, Snoop Roc and Kid Kurrup. Featured producers on the album include some of Jamaica's finest, such as Daniel 'Blaxxx' Lewis, Trevor 'Baby G' James and Amlac & Co. among others who all deliver good backing for the artiste's vocal delivery.
a good fusion
Port Antonio Virgin, unlike other Jamaican albums that I have recently critiqued, does not feature a host of tracks that can be consi-dered as just a 'radio compilation'. The album presents a good fusion of different music genres, ranging from reggae and dancehall to R&B to alternative and would appeal to music lovers who are open-minded to dynamic music.
Fair enough, the album is a good buy from a consumer's perspective and I must commend Farenheit, as an artiste, for delivering an album that meets commercial standards while staying real to Jamaican music among the other genres he has sought to explore.
