THE island's top high school athletes continued their build-up to the 2007 GraceKennedy/ISSA Boys' and Girls' Athletics Championships with some good performances at yesterday's Douglas Forrest Invitational Meet at Stadium East.
St. Jago's World Youth 100m bronze medallist and Carifta Games Under-17 200m gold medallist Latoya King, returned to the track with a 25.19 seconds victory in the girls' Class One 200m.
Jessica Jarrett of Excelsior (25.54) beat Otlilie Douglas of St. Hughes (25.78) and Carrie Russell of St. Thomas Technical (25.92) in the girls' Class Two event.
In Class Three, Natasha Morrison of Glengoffe (25.60) beat Tanya Collier of St. Jago (26.30).
Calabar with Romone McKenzie (22.02), Jerome Myers (22.48) and Earl Lee (22.83) were the top finishers in the Class Two boys 200m, while their teammate Travis Drummond (23.20) took the Class Three event.
St. Jago's Shasha-Gaye Mathias took the girls' Class One long jump with a leap of 5.41m to beat her teammate Melisa Ogbourne (5.32m) while Nicholas Gordon of Calabar won the boys' equivalent with a 7.07m leap.
Janelle Facey of Wolmer's (5.27m) won the Class Two girls' long jump, while Tonique Sobah of Morant Bay (4.92m) beat Tanya Bryan of St. Jago (4.90m) in the girls' Class Three event.

Keddine Geddes, running unattached, took the women's 200m in 25.87 seconds, while Herbert McGregor leapt 7.15m for the men's open long jump crown.
Kemoy Campbell of Bellefield won the 500m open in 15:33.3, beating Asbourne Allen of Seaford (16:38.4) and unattached Andrew Gutzmore, a senior competitor, (16:51.1). Michael Cameron of St. George's College won the shot put for Class Two boys with a throw of 14.75m.
Leford Green of Foris International (52.69) took the 400m hurdles open, while Natalya Beneby of Bahamas (1:03.20) won the female event.
