Vassell Reynolds, coach of Wolmer's Boys' High School, said their football programme is in good hands and the chances of winning next season's Manning Cup title is now very high on his agenda.

This, after Wolmer's defeated Old Harbour High 3-0 in the finals of Inter-Secondary Sports Associations (ISSA)Malta Under-16 All-Island National football championships at the Harbour View Mini Stadium on Tuesday.

Atiba Morgan (11th minute), Alex Morgan (27th) and Jahvaughn Beckford (78th) scored for Wolmer's.

Camperdown also emerged national champions, as they captured the Under-14 title in the opening game by virtue of a narrow 2-1 victory over St. James High.

Delano Reid (5th) and Rashawn Patterson (penalty, 52nd) scored for Camperdown, while Ricardo Morris (38th) netted for St. James High.

'GOOD HANDS'

"This victory shows that our programme is in good hands and the lot of hard work that we have been putting in has been paying off for us," said Reynolds.

"We have also retained a large number of players that won the all-island Under-14 title two seasons ago, so I am hoping that we can keep this set of players together and hope continue to carry this success into the Manning Cup competitions next season."

Reynolds added: "But I think that Old Harbour played well, because I believe that this is the first time that they have been giving up three goals in a match."

Owen Boswell, coach of Old Harbour, was very disappointed with his team's performance.

"We came out today with a game plan. But we lost the game when we lost our midfield, and when we gave up the second goal the players got really indisciplined, which resulted in us losing the game," said Boswell.
