Little Theatre tribute to Charles Hyatt
published: Friday | January 19, 2007

The EDITOR, Sir:

The Little Theatre Movement wishes to place on record, its tribute to the life and times of the late Charles Hyatt, who, in the course of his illustrious career, contributed to the development of Jamaica's theatre and media environment. He played substantial roles in nine National Pantomimes and set a benchmark for the comedic character of the 'Dame', which has become part of local theatre history.

The LTM was pleased to be associated with the recent events staged in recognition of his passing, by making available the grounds of the Little Theatre for the wake, last Friday night, as well as the amenities of the Little Theatre for the staging of the memorial concert on Monday night.

Members of the Pantomime Company were honoured to dedicate three songs from the current pantomime Howzzat! to Charlie's memory and his love of cricket. The presentation included the title song, Howzzat, Cricket is a serious game and Cokenat Bat and Breadfruit Ball, composed by Astley 'Grub' Cooper with lyrics by Barbara Gloudon, both of whom have their individual memories of Charlie.

I am, etc.,

MICHAEL 'RUFUS'

McDONALD

Manager
