Alarm over China's anti-satellite test
TOKYO (AP): China's anti-satellite weapons test raised concerns in Asia and the U.S. about the rising militarisation of space and prompted governments to demand explanations from Beijing yesterday, while Russia expressed skepticism about the test.

Castro in 'slow, progressive' recovery

MADRID, (Reuters): Cuban leader Fidel Castro is making a "slow but progressive" recovery although his condition is serious due to his advanced age, a Spanish doctor who has examined him said yesterday.


President Morales set to nationalise mining sector

RIO DE JANEIRO, (Reuters): Bolivia's government will move ahead with plans to nationalise the mining industry, President Evo Morales said yesterday, in the latest move by a left-leaning Latin American nation toward more state control of key sectors.
