Danilo Barriga, the man who recently took over as Seba United's coach, says the MoBay team is improving but needs to continue in that vein following their first win under his guidance, a 2-1 result over still winless Naggo Head.
"It is my first victory and I am happy. The team is starting to get steady," a pleased Barriga said after their Wray and Nephew National Premier League victory in the game at Elliston Wakeland Centre in Falmouth on Thursday.
He also said that there is room for improvement.
"The team needs to be more professional and disciplined. They also need to be more constructive in their criticism and be more supportive of each other."
Wilfred Smith from the penalty spot in the 47th minute and Delroy Ellis in the 79th scored for Seba United, while goalkeeper Jacomena Barrett pulled one back for Naggo Head in the 80th minute.
Brightest game
It was not one of the brightest games, though both teams created and missed a number of chances.
When the half-time break came it must have been a relief for the small number of spectators who turned out.
The game sprung to life upon the resumption as Ellis, who played in a deeper role, overlapped down the right flank, worked his way into the 18-yard box before he was deemed to have been stopped unfairly by Andre Darby. Referee Ricardo Sailsman pointed to the penalty spot.
Smith stepped up to the penalty spot and dispatched the ball past an unmoved Barrett in the goal. Seba United upped the pace of their game in the 68th minute when they introduced the speedy Bucknor, combined to Theodore Whitmore who joined the game at half-time.
Bucknor made his presence count in the 79th minute when he worked his way down the left flank and crossed out of the reach of Barrett, for the onrushing Ellis to capitalise. Ellis collected the ball and steered a left-footer into an almost empty goal.
A minute later the score was 2-1 as Barrett stepped up to convert a penalty.
Bucknor could have capped a fine game by converting an opportunity he created for himself in the 84th minute. He overdribbled and wasted the opportunity.
The excitement did not end there as Barrett, who was overheard muttering profanity, was given a red card for foul, abusive and insultive language with a minute to play.
Naggo Head's coach, Wayne Fairclough, was not happy with the result.
"It was a tough loss but the decisions went against us. I have never really spoken out about refereeing before, but some of the decisions were against us, particularly the penalty. I did not see any contact," said Fairclough.
