St. Jago's girls and Calabar came out on top at Saturday's 22nd staging of the Seprod-sponsored Howard Jackson Relays at Paul Bogle Junior High School in Morant Bay.

The girls from the Monk Street-based St. Jago finished with five wins and 87 points, while Calabar, who had only two victories, came out on top of the boys' division with 76 points.

National boys' champions, Kings-ton College (KC), accounted for two of the three records that were broken. Their Class Two 4x600m team ran 5:41.2 seconds, beating the old mark of 5:44.2 set by Seaforth in 2005, while in the heats, the Purples' Class Three 4x300m team ran 2:34.6 to beat Calabar's old mark of 2:34.9 set in 2005. The KC Class Three boys then lowered the mark again in the final to 2:34.5.

St. Jago's boys Class Three 4x150m team broke the other record in the boys' section, running 1:11.8 to erase the old mark of 1:12.2 set by Calabar in 2005.

New mark

St. Jago girls also established a new mark of 6:34.7 in the 4x600m open ahead of St. Elizabeth Technical (6:56.) and St. Thomas Technical (7:08.5).

In the 4x150m events, KC (1:15.8) won Class Four ahead of Wolmer's (1:16.1) and Jamaica College (1:16.1), while St. Jago (1:11.8) beat Calabar (1: 12.9) and STETHS (1:13.5) in Class Three.

Calabar (1:08.9) beat Edith Dalton James (1:10.0) and St. Jago (1:10.3) in Class Two and again topped Class One in 1:05.9 ahead of St. Jago (1:06.1) and Wolmer's (1:06.1). St. Jago girls also won two of the sprint relays. They took the Class Three event in 1:17.9 ahead of Alpha (1:19.1) and St. Andrew (1:20.8), while their Class One quartet secured victory in 1:15.1 ahead of the University of Technology (UTech) (1:16.0) and Vere Technical (1: 17.4).

St. Andrew (1:20.6) won Class Four ahead of Wolmer's (1:21.2) and St. Jago (1:22.5), while Alpha took Class Two in 1:17.0 ahead of STETHS (1:17.9) and St. Jago (1:19.4).

In the 4x300m events, St. Andrew dominated the girls' section with two victories. They won Class Four in 3:00.0 ahead of St. Jago (3:03.2) and Wolmer's 3:03.2) and Class Two in 2:47.4 over STETHS (2: 47.8) and Alpha (2: 50.7) respectively.
