Don't let Tricia 'Wild Child' Spence's radio personality fool you. She is not all just mouth; she has brains as well. While some may not like her style, she is content with what she does. The brass Radio Jamaica announcer, who holds a master's degree in international business management, is now filling a void left by Richie B. She had her doubts at first, but no more.

Gleaner: How did you get started in the media?

Wild Child: That is a very convoluted story. I got a call from this lady who told me François wanted to see me and I asked 'François who?' She said François from RJR, so I said OK. I did a commercial for him and I didn't hear back from him. He called me to do another and I went on to work in continuity for a while.

G: What is your dream job?

WC: I don't know that I really have one. I just want to do things that make me happy and allow me to travel.

G: What is your best moment working in the media?

WC: My God! That's a hard question. I was attending carnival in Junction and a drunken old man came up to me and asked me my name. I told him Wild Child. He turn to me and said, "Weh mek yuh duh Nyron suh a mornin time?" He sobered up for that one minute.

G: Have you been faced with negative remarks?

WC: Oh yes, because I speak a lot of patois. But yuh know when Miss Lou died, all a dem a hug it up with patois on dem pillow, all a drink patois tea.

G: If not radio, what would you be doing?

WC: Psychology, law or holistic medicine.

G: What is your favourite show (local or international)?

WC: I like to watch news or any cultural show. RJR has a show called What's In a Name. I like Anderson Cooper and Paula Zahn and any drama series.

G: Who are your favourite media personalities (local or international)?

WC: Raga (Kingsley Stewart) and I use to like Antoinette Haughton when she was on.

G: What turns you off about people?

WC: Dem too damn hypocritical. I like people to be constructively critical.

G: If you could meet any one person, who would he/she be?

WC: Tina Turner, Madonna and Mary J. Blige. There is something similar about all three.

G: What is one thing that people would be surprised to know about you?

WC: In my downtime, I don't like noisy affairs.
