A mother's refusal to believe her son had been shot in the head was erased yesterday when she was on spot to see him being admitted to the hospital.

Jocelyn Daley had been told that her 17-year-old son, Dinoko White, was shot by a security guard in Montego Bay, St. James and would be transferred to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH).

Hoping it was not true, Ms. Daley, of Fletcher's Land in Kingston, and her neighbours, converged in anticipation at KPH.

As the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) ambulance turned in to the hospital, Ms. Daley rushed to the vehicle trying to see if it was really her son.

"Lord Jesus, is him, is him Lord, Jesus," cried Ms. Daley.

She said her son and his stepfather had left home on Thursday at 3:30 a.m. for their regular delivery of goods to the Second City.

Reports are that the teenager was shot at a business place in Montego Bay where he was delivering goods, such as rice and flour. It is also reported that White was accidentally shot as the guard meant to shoot a man who was stoning the business place.

"My son kneel down a tie him shoes lace and them shoot him," said Ms. Daley. She said his stepfather was unhurt.

White was admitted with a shot to the head.
