Canada to boost World Cup security in region
published: Saturday | January 27, 2007

Canada is to supply narcotics and explosive trace-detection equipment and training to six Caribbean nations to improve border security in preparation for Cricket World Cup 2007.

Beginning this month, 120 customs officers in Antigua, Grenada, Guyana, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be trained in using the new technology.

"The provision of this technology is part of our continuing efforts towards the development of a safe, secure and prosperous Caribbean, particularly in the context of Cricket World Cup," said Canadian High Commissioner to Jamaica, Denis Kingsley.
