Meadhaven get chance to make big move
published: Saturday | January 27, 2007

Kwesi Mugisa, Staff Reporter

Meadhaven United will look to make use of a golden opportunity to snatch second place in the Jamaica National/KSAFA Super League, when they take on Duhaney Park 3:30 p.m. today at the Sherwin Williams Stadium.

A win for Meadhaven, who have been rapidly moving up the table in recent weeks, would see them move to 20 points, two ahead of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) and three ahead of current third place team Santos.

Both Santos and the JDF will be inactive in Super League play today, as they prepare to partici-pate in the Western Union/KSAFA Jackie Bell KO compe-tition tomorrow.

In seventh place on 13 points, Duhaney Park have continued to struggle for consistency this season and will head into the fixture with back-to-back 2-0 losses. The most recent saw them go down to a surging Santos.

Dominant Police

In the meantime, a dominant Police National will look to continue clubbing their oppo-nents when they take on mid-table Bull Bay FC at Bull Pen. On 14 points and in sixth place, Bull Bay have really struggled to get maximum points in their last couple of fixtures.

Today, they will face a daunting task as they look to cuff the lawmen. The Police National team comfortably hold an eight-point lead at the top of the table and are unbeaten in their last five games, scoring a total of 10 goals in their last three matches.

At the Maverley Complex hosts Maverley/Hughenden in 11th place and Barbican FC in 12th will continue their battle to escape the league cellar.

Both teams have struggled mightily so far this season. Maverley-Hughenden will be looking for their first win since November of last year, and have lost five of their last seven games. Barbican are still searching for their first win of the season.GAMES ON
