Bangshowbiz:

Brandy could face manslaughter charges following her involvement in a fatal car crash.

On December 30, 2005, the singer, whose real name is Brandy Norwood, crashed into the back of a car, resulting in the death of the driver.

The California Highway Patrol has concluded its investigation into the four-car crash and say Brandy was at fault.

Patrol spokesman Leland Tang said on Monday: "We know that Brandy's at fault for the chain reaction of the collision.

"The Los Angeles City Attorney's office recommends she be charged with a misdemeanour count of vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence."

If charged and subsequently found guilty, the 27-year-old star could face one year in jail.

No evidence of distraction

Tang added that investigators found no evidence that Brandy was distracted at the moment when she crashed into the back of the vehicle driven by 38-year-old married mother-of-one Awatef Aboudihaj.

Aboudihaj died the next evening at Providence Holy Cross Medical Centre.

The Los Angeles City Attorney's office will review the case and decide whether to file the charge against her.

The accident

A representative for Brandy is yet to comment.

The former Moesha star was driving her 2007 Land Rover at 65 mph on Los Angeles' 405 Freeway when she crashed into the 2005 Toyota.

The Toyota hit a third car and then the central divide before colliding with a fourth car, according to a California Highway Patrol statement. A man driving immediately behind Brandy is quoted by gossip website TMZ.com as saying: "She got upset, talking about how it was all her fault she didn't stop. She kept saying how she hit the lady."
