WALDERSTON, Manchester:
The Hillary session of the Manchester Circuit Court opened Monday with High Court Judge, Justice Christine McDonald, presiding.
There are 26 cases listed for trial, including four murders, three cases of manslaughter, 13 cases of illegal possession of firearm, two cases of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, two cases of carnal abuse, one arson and one case related to child stealing.
One of the island's newest companies, Caribbean Real Estate Investment Fund Ltd. (CARIF), made its philanthropic entry into the island's landscape by sponsoring a day of treats at the Hanbury Children's Home in Manchester last Saturday.
CARIF, which was established last year by Anthony Thorpe, a returned resident, sought assistance in cash and kind from several companies and individuals to host the treat for the 80 children based at the home

SANTA CRUZ, St. Elizabeth:
Over 250 individuals from across Northeast St. Elizabeth are set to benefit from small business loans from a number of small business entities aiming to assist persons with a lower income base to become entrepreneurs.
The National Investment Fund, Jamaica National Small Business Centre, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Science and Technology with Energy, and the Registrar of Company were among agencies in attendance at an entrepreneurial forum hosted by Senator Kern Spencer, People's National Party candidate for the constituency and junior minister for commerce. The forum was held last Thursday at St. Matthew's Anglican Church hall, Santa Cruz.
