TOP-FLIGHT football representatives Naggo Head continued to find wins hard to come by as they were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with South Central Super League team Sporting Central when Red Stripe Champions Cup action kicked off at Brancourt yesterday.
Schoolboy striker Dwayne Hunter fired the St. Catherine team into the lead with a 16th-minute strike. However, the Clarendon team exploited the defensive weakness of Naggo Head before halftime as Gregory Lewis pulled them level in the 37th minute.
Positive start for Seba
Western NPL representatives Seba got their campaign off to a positive start when they turned back Port Morant United 2-1. Seba's top scorer and captain, Wilfred Smith, blasted them into the lead in the 16th minute and Glenroy Miller added another in the 29th. Ryan Hunter notched what turned out to be a consolation goal for the Cotton Tree field hosts in the 41st minute.
Star Cosmos had to battle hard to erase a first-half deficit but eventually overcame Frome 3-1 at Frome.
Adrian Robinson had put the home team ahead with his 38th- minute strike, but saw his effort cancelled out when Adrian Henry (65th), Dane Wallace (82nd) and Devan Shand (88th) all rattled the net with second-half efforts.
In other games, Montpelier played their way to a 1-1 draw with St. Ann Bauxite while Duhaney Park were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Holland United.
