Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), which was established 19 years ago through a merger among three government entities, has changed
its name.
Cabinet on Wednesday accepted the name change to Jamaica Trade and Invest, which, according to the agency, reflects greater emphasis on the business
promotion side of its activities in the international community.
Information Minister Donald Buchanan said Jamaica Trade and Invest would maintain the acronym, JAMPRO, as well as it current logo.
He said the launch of JAMPRO's Brand Jamaica programme, on Wednesday, by Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller was one aspect of promoting the island as an investment destination.
In 1988, the Jamaica National Investment Promotions, the Jamaica National Export Corporation and the Jamaica Industrial Development Corporation merged to form JAMPRO.
