LETTER OF THE DAY - Paternity leave is long overdue
THE EDITOR, Sir: It is becoming increasingly common in Jamaica to see a single man pushing a stroller while shopping or on his way to the nursery. My friend, who practises paediatrics in Kingston, tells me that more fathers are accompanying mothers....

Gov't by triage?

The Editor, Sir: Triage, as practised in times of war or disaster, is where medical staff, or medicines, etc. are inadequate, and so there is assignment of degrees of urgency to decide the order of treatment of wounds.

Time for a psychiatric prison

The Editor, Sir: Perhaps the time has come for the building of a psychiatric prison for the mentally ill who are unfit to plea to offences which they have committed. In this regard, proper medical services would be rendered to them....

A father's plea

The Editor, Sir: If fathers are so important, then why is it so darned hard to even get visitation to see your children? Why do we have to fight so much? Why does the Family Court pay such scant regard to fathers?

The Editor, Sir: On Tuesday, the People's National Party (PNP) candidate for Eastern St. Andrew, Professor Trevor Munroe, had a grand tour of a section of the Standpipe gully with an entourage of ministers, his party officers...
