Basil Dawkins' hilarious comedy, Uptown Bangarang, which has been delighting patrons of all ages, at The Little Little Theatre, Tom Redcam Avenue, since its December premiere, will have an additional performance at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow.
"We have been enjoying an unusually high rate of repeat patrons, which makes us feel assured that we did something right," said Dawkins.
"It's persons who have already seen the show who have asked us to consider an early evening performance on a weekday, as there are so many people for whom the later show is not convenient. We thought, why not try Valentine's Day and the arrangements were made. With a day of the advertisement, the tickets are selling, we are expecting a good house and that everyone will have a memorable experience".
What accounts for the obvious success of Uptown Bangarang?
"It is engaging, relevant and controversial, it has issues people want to talk about and it is very funny. Add to that is an excellent group of actors led by Ruth Ho Shing and Maylynne Walton.
Electrifying performances
The audiences, night after night, are held spellbound by electrifying performances, notable among them, that of young Sakina who plays 'Precious' the ambitious helper from the ghetto, operating as the "mover and shaker" in the Webster's Cherry Garden's household, audiences can't seem to get enough of her. They love her performance."
The other actors completing the cast of Uptown Bangarang are Douglas Prout who alternates with Andrew Lawrence, Best Actor awardee Maurice Bryan alternating with Jerry Benzwick and Max Woodham as 'Abe'.
