Trelawny MP to run in St Catherine
published: Wednesday | February 14, 2007

McDaniel

Devon McDaniel, Member of Parliament for South Trelawny, has abandoned plans to give up representational politics and will instead run for the South Central St. Catherine seat in the next general election.

McDaniel has been given the nod by Jamaica Labour Party delegates to seek the South Central St. Catherine constituency.

The 34-year-old MP, disillusioned with the political process, had said he would walk away from active politics, nearly two years ago.

However, delegates of the South Central St. Catherine constituency on Sunday elected the businessman as their new candidate/caretaker, replacing Trevon Garvey.

The seat is currently held by Sharon Hay-Webster of the governing People's National Party.
