St. George's College rose to the occasion when they thrashed Ardenne 79-58 to close out the best of three final 2-1 and lift the ISSA/KFC Southern Conference Under-16 basketball title at the National Stadium courts yesterday.

"I was always confident that we were going to win this series," said a jubilant Clifford Brown, coach of St. George's.

"When I saw us go to Ardenne and lose by a single point, I just knew that the more games we played, it would be the less they would be likely to win," he added.

After two close games, George's won convincingly and the contribution of their big three - Kemar Cummings who had 23 points, 8 steals, Patrick Dillon who had 19 points and big man Daniel Pitter who had 19 points and 24 rebounds - was the main reason.

Alex Lubsy had 18 points and 18 rebounds for Ardenne.

"I really don't think Ardenne wanted to win here today. They never went out and played that way," said Ardenne coach Basil Barrett. "They went away from following instructions of the coach. They did what they wanted to and that will always lead to your downfall."
