Lotto Vibes - Many rakes to watch
published: Saturday | February 17, 2007

Jah Foresight, Contributor

I am glad that I lived to see another Valentine's Day. It was very peaceful and rainy in my area. I was saddened by the news that an elderly man slaughtered his wife on this love day. The level of domestic violence has risen out of proportions and it is strange that many of these crimes occur in deep rural Jamaica.

We as a people seem to be at a boiling point and we really need to exercise some self control. On the flipside of this, we saw on the evening news the drama of alleged homosexuals being seen/caught expressing their emotions. I can bet that everybody is going to buy number 2 for this weekend draw.

Valentine's Day was very reflective for me. I think that some folks have become callous and cold and are just in love for material possession. I went into a pharmacy on Wednesday and I was taken aback by the scene inside. This was the first time I ever saw so many men in a given space buying expensive gifts.

I looked at their eyes and I realised that these were young men in love. I wondered if these fellows were part of the audience that watched the dream wedding on television that morning. The strangest thing is that I didn't see even one woman buying a late gift. Then I had to reflect, since I hardly ever hear a man saying around the domino table or in the bar that he received a gift from 'Dorothy' for Valentine.

This was a day that the women were bold and brave. I met a young lady and the first thing that she wanted from me was a Razr phone. I showed her my beard and told her that a Rasta Man is not a fan of razors. She replied and told me that she needs a good phone and I showed her mine.

She started to abuse me, calling me cheap and said that I needed some bling in my life. I did not even get the chance to say what I wanted for my Valentine, which would have been a plate of steamed fish and bammies.

Valentine's Day is not for the lonely and I can imagine that the sale of rum and cigarettes must increase during this season.

Training puppies

A few weeks ago, I wrote that I was looking for two good puppies. I need a nice mongrel that can bark and a good crossbreed that can bite. I have just constructed a concrete kennel so that man's best friend can be warm during the night. I read with amusement where the German ambassador stated that he is requesting that his neighbours stop their dogs from barking between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

I would love if there was a dog school around so that I could train my puppies. The problem is that I will have to know before I receive the puppies if they are dunces. It is not every animal that can deal with education, much less social graces. It must be very bad because I know that the slim mongrels bark with a thrilling accent, while fatter ones produce growls.

I would not want the ambassador to leave Jamaica due to ole dawgs. I know that he must have a driver and I would recommend that he spend his weekends in Seafort Town in Westmoreland which is very quiet and serene. This village is crime free and there is little or no excitement around to activate any barking. I would suggest that he buy some land and just stay in rural Jamaica for good. It would be great if he arranged a tour for Bling Dawg in Germany and I bet all the barking would cease.

The jackpot is at $19 million for this Saturday. This is a nice sum to take your lover on a Caribbean Cruise. The numbers were 13 (police, scissors, knife) 17 (Chinese man, wicked woman, old dead) 21 (bad girl, mule, devil) 24 (fresh water, medicine, praising God) 26 (white man, officials, castle) 28 (fowl, adultery, ram goat, sick heart) and the bonus number of 22. There was one winner of $388,441 and 37 winners of $6,229 each.

The numbers for last Saturday were 1(duppy, bench, grey hair) 5 (thief, actor, spider, dirt) 10 (house, car, crib) 19 (money, silver, get bun) 23 (black man, monkey, cat) 36 (old lady, donkey, race horse) and the bonus ball of 37. I will predict to look out for 26 again.

I can see that the Cricket World Cup is getting closer and closer. I hope all the fixing of roads will be finished for the first match. I must congratulate Ziggy Marley on winning the Grammy another year.
