A beautiful sense of the morbid plagues

my images, shapes my lines,

moves my hand sometimes to write verse

laden with dark motifs. But behind all

the negatives, a lust for hope entrails

like the blood trail of a wounded animal

back to its place of safety.

I always feel at home in the dark, safe in the fear

that something dread may spring out at me,

and that I'll write a dark verse that sparkles

on the page like the glitter of ink.
