Andrew Grant celebrates big 40 in style
published: Sunday | February 18, 2007

Garwin Davis, Gleaner Writer

The ladies had a great time too as seen from left, Indra Chandiram, Trisha Todd and Jan Polack.

Caroline Grant has always been known more for her social work and community activism than her prowess at throwing parties. That may all have changed last Saturday night when she opened the doors to her beautiful Jamaica Beach home in Tower Isle, St. Mary, to celebrate husband, Andrew's 40th birthday.

And what an evening it was! Guests started streaming in approximately 8:00 p.m. and within two hours the lawn and pool areas were buzzing with activity. Daughters, Poppie and Phoebe, played hostesses for a while; ensuring that guests were given the 'royal' welcome, while eating away at the wonderful appetisers that kept them making the rounds.

Following the diet-tempting buffet dinner of jerked pork, roast beef, lamb chops, rice and peas, and chicken, guests were given a real treat in the form of a memory lane journey of Andrew - from his days as a toddler to his marriage to Caroline and the birth of his two young daughters. The video presentation was a wonderful touch to a very classy evening and one that will be talked about for a very long time.

Andrew, a senior executive with the Cool Group of Companies, was assisted by his daughters in cutting the birthday cake, questioning as he went along, "Where all the years have gone?" Caroline, the perfect host, if ever there were one, worked the compound as a seasoned pro, making sure at all times that the drinks kept pouring and that guests were okay. She needn't have worried, however, as there were enough activities to keep everyone busy all night - truly a wonderful evening and one of the better parties seen on the north coast so far this year.

In attendance were Rolly and Valarie Grant (Andrew'sparents who flew in from Canada), Joey and Asha Issa, David and Tanya Phillips, Alex Ghysais, Rafael and Robyn DeComas, Danny and Sandy Gonzalez, Blair Gonsalves, Nancy Shapiro (who flew in from Florida), Indu Chandiram, Art Von Strolley, Ravi and Michelle Chatani, Mike and Erica Fulford, John and Marlene Fulford, Paulette Chen, Tom and Tina Williams, Sandy Goldsmith, Andrew Lewis and Janeel Attalla, Dr. Barbara Matalon, Karen Matalon, Ian and Laura Chandley, Jan Polak, Peter and Annabella Proudlock, Chris and Janine Tribley, Johnathon Collier, Belinda Morrow, Paul Shepherd, Michael and Debbie Seow, Alfred Scott, Andrew and Trisha Todd, Sarah and Annabelle Todd, Steve Sowa, Rhonda Hall, Carol D'Caccio, Jeff MacFarlane, Jet Tweedie, Dudley Beeks, Bobby Chung, Wayne Lee, Fred and Lucy Schnell, and Eric and Tasha Bogden.
