Me daahlings, if y'all never knew it before, accept it as the gospel from me - Honeys, living well is the best revenge!

And living well is what it was all about in Montego Bay over last weekend, and honeys, how! Dears, we are talking the very acme of civilised fun and the good life, with haute societyout in fine style, doing what it does best - celebrating the good life! That's what the annual Sugar Cane Ball is all about.

Kudos to Josef Forstmayr and his team over there at the enchanting Round Hill resort property, on a job that was flawlessly done!

Luvs, the buzz is it was all that, and then some! And dovecakes, the best thing about the gathering of some of the island's leading social elite, as well as a smattering of international celebs, is the fact that not only did they all have a good time, they raised/donated several hundred thousand dollars for Hanover charities, and a worthier cause there is not!

Ccocktail soiree

And if last Saturday night's ball was not enough, then there was the absolutely fabulous cocktail soire that U.S. Ambassador, HE Brenda LaGrange Johnson, and hubby Howard Johnson, hosted in Tryall. Dear hearts, the reviews are in and the buzz is this was as fabulous as fabulous gets, and then some, as the word being most commonly used to describe the shindig was - a masterpiece!

Well, daahling, not that anything else was expected from the trs elegant U.S. first citizen, as since their arrival, the twosome have been the very epitome of haute style, and nothing but!

And so, congrats all around on what proved a smasheroni of a weekend over there in the Second City!

And speaking of the U.S. ambassador, tonight the absolutely smashing Zora Young will be giving of her talented self in what promises to be a fabulous concert on the East Lawns of the historic Devon House, in New Kingston, under the auspices of the U.S. Embassy and a host of other sponsors, in the continuing commemoration of African American History Month, celebrated each February.

Dears, Ms. Young can sing, and when this diva gets going, she belts it out like no other, so music lovers are in for a treat tonight. But perhaps the best part of the concert is that it will be a first-class offering totally free, as in gratis - yes, no cost!

Pumpkins, it is a must-attend for music aficionados.

And then my dears, if you have not been yet, then you do not know what a good thing y'all are missing as it is the hottest thing to hit this here fine city since the advent of Velisa's, on Devon Road. We are talking about the hot fab new Mac's Gourmet Market, located on Hope Road, right across really from the esteemed residence of the Governor-General, in the TGIF complex.

Dearhearts, if the finer things in life is your thing, then Mac's Gourmet Market is the place to shop. Honeys, we kid you not at all when we say they are all that and then some, with some of the finest salads in town: Cassis; Limon Cini; a fabulous selection of fine wines, liqueurs, champagnes and sparkling wines, and Piroulines and a host of other goodies that make the palate and the senses go totally haywire in appreciation and anticipation!

And still speaking of good things, kudos to Derrick Mahfood, on his transforming his Market Place over there on Constant Spring Road to a high-end restaurant row, now housing China Express, Latino Habibi, Japan East, and a fine Indian restaurant too.

Dears, the transformation has made dining out in Kingston that much more pleasurable, and honeys, how!

And belated birthday wishes to Carl Bliss and the lovely Maureen Lee, who both celebrated their birthdays two Mondays ago. He at his Red Hills residence, and she with hubby Dennis Lee and their two daughters with a special outing to Port Royal.

And on Thursday, it was the Big Four-O for German Embassy official Sven Voelk, but he was treated to a surprise birthday bash at the charming Chez Maria restaurant on Hilcrest Avenue. The word is it was all fun and games, as friends and well-wishers gathered and toasted the birthday boy like there would be no tomorrow!

Champagne wishes all around and beluga treats!
