Quake rattles T&T and St Vincent

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC):

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 on the Richter scale rattled Trinidad and Tobago and St. Vincent yesterday, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The Seismic Research Unit of the University of the West Indies (UWI) said that the quake was located 10.61 degrees north and 61.48 degrees west, near the capital Port-of-Spain. It had a focal depth of 86 kilometres.

The quake which occurred at 10:48 am, was reported as being felt in San Fernando, Arima, Curepe, Claxton Bay, Port-of-Spain, Point Lisas, and in Tobago.

It was also felt in Upper Hopewell in St. Vincent, the unit reported.
