VOX POP - Do you think Jamaica will profit from the Cricket World Cup?
published: Saturday | February 24, 2007

From left, Easton Mullings, Richard Service, Ashford Thomas, Gilbert Watt, Vernon Jones and Winston Spencer.

Do you think Jamaica will profit from the Cricket World Cup?

  • Easton Mullings

Sure, because a lot of tourists and visitors will be coming into our country, so we definitely will benefit from it.

  • Richard Service

Yes, because we are going to get a lot more exposure now more than we have right now, and many persons who have never comehere before will get the opportunity to come here now to see the country.

  • Ashford Thomas

Yes, because a lot of people in the country are benefiting now. There is a lot of fixing up taking place in the country now and I think that a lot more tourists will come into the country now.

  • Gilbert Watt

We have never had a World Cup in the West Indies before so I don't know if we are going to benefit or not. All we have to do is to give it our best shot and whoever can support it just go out there and support it.

  • Vernon Jones

I am sure we will in the long run. It's a big event and with a place like Jamaica growing so fast I'm sure it will help us in any area that we can provide work and other things for the people here.

  • Winston Spencer

We will, but not an immediate profit. It is a long-term thing, so over the next decade or so, we will benefit from it.
