Newly elected president of the Jamaica Bankers' Association (JBA), Patrick Hylton, has placed the establishment of a credit bureau for the local industry high on the agenda during his tenure.

Hylton, who is the group managing director of National Commercial Bank (NCB), was elected president at the 40-year-old organisation's annual general meeting last Thursday.

"I have every confidence in the ability of the current executive body to successfully achieve the objectives of the JBA," said Hylton.

New executive

The new executive includes Wayne Wray, president of First Global Bank, who will now act as vice-president, and Pan Caribbean Merchant Bank general manager Henry Pratt, who was elected Treasurer.

Pamela Smith, general manager of Myers Fletcher & Gordon Trust & Finance, remains as executive secretary, a position she has held since 2003.

Bank of Nova Scotia Jamaica president, William 'Bill' Clarke, who demits office of the JBA presidency encouraged "heads of member institutions to contribute their efforts towards developing a more vibrant association through fulsome participation in the dialogue on issues that constantly confront the association."
