CWC 2007 symposium bowls off in Trinidad

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC):

Trinidad & Tobago (T&T) captain Daren Ganga, fresh from leading his side to the KFC one-day and Carib Beer Challenge titles, will be one of the facilitators at a two-day sports symposium starting today.

Ganga will join several other noted sports persons and administrators in the two-day event labelled 'Cricket, Lovely Cricket' which has attracted sports journalists from throughout the region and which will look at the Caribbean's hosting of the 2007 Cricket World Cup.

Senator Joan Yuille Williams, Minister of Culture and acting Minister of Sport, will deliver the feature address on the opening day of the event at the Cascadia Conference Centre at 9 a.m.

Other presentations

Jannelle Penny Commissiong-Chow, marketing manager of T&T's CWC Local Organising Committee will also make a presentation at the event.

West Indies Players' Association president, Dinanath Ramnarine, is also scheduled to deliver a presentation along with T&T Cricket Board president, Deryck Murray, and former West Indies fast bowler, Anthony Gray.

Murray will discuss the topic 'Regional Partnership' while Gray will look at 'A Formula for West Indies Success'.

Former national football coach, Alvin Corneal, will discuss the Cricket World Cup in the context of 'A Sportswriter's Dream'.

Psychologist Dr. Courtney Boxill will present on the topic 'Winning: It's all in the Mind,' while FIFA vice-president Austin 'Jack' Warner will wrap up the conference tomorrow with 'The Eyes of the World are on us'.
