Prime Minister the Most Honourable Portia Simpson Miller accepts a copy of the recently published 'History of the Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ)' from SAJ president Michael Bernard during last week's courtesy call on the PM. On Thursday March 1, 2007, the Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ) will take its popular Lunch and Learn series out west. 'The seminar entitled: The Logistics of World Cup Cricket: Opportunities for the Transport Sector' will be held at The Pelican Inn, Gloucester Avenue, Montego Bay. The main presenter will be Fritz Pinnock, executive director of the Caribbean Maritime Institute. Other presenters will include representatives from the Jamaica Tourist Board/TPDCo, as well as the St. James CWC Hosting Committee. This is the first in the series for Montego Bay and will be among a series of quarterly seminars for that region. Thursday's seminar is made possible through the kind sponsorship of Freight Handlers Limited, agents for steamship lines and NVOCCs, serving the busy ports of Montego Bay and Kingston.
The SAJ launched the monthly Lunch and Learn seminars in July 2006 in an effort to raise the awareness of developments in regional and global shipping for stakeholders in the industry.
