LAST MONTH, the board of directors of ICC CWC WI 2007 Inc. held its final meeting before the tournament.
Members convened in Trinidad and Tobago following three days of discussions with event authority - ICC - and the Global Cricket Corporation (GCC), which owns the sponsorship and broadcast rights for ICC CWC 2007. Officials from those two organisations also attended the CWC board meeting.
CWC chairman Kenneth Gordon lauded his fellow board members for "giving generously of their time" in overseeing the tournament's planning, since the first board meeting in 2003.
In his remarks, CWC managing director and CEO Chris Dehring thanked the board for its unwavering support and guidance during the region's steady progress towards CWC 2007.
"This board has truly been a reflection of the Caribbean's spirit and determination in this historic venture. Representatives from all nine CWC host venues have come together with a common resolve and it has been a pleasure to be part of such an enthusiastic and committed team," Dehring said.
"It has been a long journey and there is still work to be done but I believe we can look forward to hosting the best Cricket World Cup ever."
