The management of Telstar Cable Company is taking its services to another stratosphere. They launched their new products at Devon House last Saturday.
But while this was a time to celebrate new beginnings, it was also a time to reflect on the man who started the whole thing: David Darby. Though his life was taken in 1997, his dream of providing quality service to customers lives on.
Internet access
According to Florence Darby, managing director, the company will now be offering Internet access, both wireless and fixed line, as well as home surveillance equipment via the Internet. So if you happen to be on vacation, you can check the 'net to see if all is well at home. This will all be part of the company's Four Play Plus package. Mrs. Darby also announced the launch of their Talk TV channel but would say no more. More on that in future, we suppose.
Cordel Green, Harold Davis and Friends (made up of guitarist David Tyrell and bass guitarist Dale Brown), performed an entertaining set of classics, such as Small Axe and The Harder They Come. They were later joined by Maria Myrie and they made beautiful music together. She serenaded guests with renditions of Everything I Own and Turn Your Lights Down Low. The evening's performances were wrapped up by the merry duo of Ossie D and Stevie G whose choreographed moves and chirpy tunes brought a showman-type end to proceedings.
Guests included Eugene Fflokes, Veronica Ellis, Joan McDonald, Stephen Jones, Les Campbell, Churchill Neita and wife Angela, Dr. Eve Palomino-Lue, Rev. Lenworth Anglin, Norma Brown-Bell, president of Call The Planet Ltd. John Eitel and Adrian Lyn, Mario and Paula Francis and football coach Geoffrey Maxwell.
