JC in charge of Premier League semi
published: Friday | March 2, 2007

Robert Bailey, Freelance Writer

HOSTS JAMAICA College (JC), led by brilliant 132 from opener Oliver Walker, were in firm control over Dunoon Technical going into today's final day of the semi-final round of the Grace Premier League cricket competition.

At the close of play, JC were 233 for eight - an overall lead of 80 runs. Travis Reid, 15, and Carlyle Moxam, one, will resume batting today for JC.

Winning the toss and electing to field, JC skittled out Dunoon for 153. Richard Allen, 44, and Shevaughn Latham, 33, were the leading scorers for Dunoon Technical while Elvis Watson claimed six wickets for 35 runs and Moxam picked up 2- 40. In their turn at bat, JC's Walker received good support from teammates Mardio Grandston (22) and Adrian Morris (18). David Robertson, coach of JC, said he was confident of outright victory today.

"I am very confident that we can win outright but Dunoon are really not a bad team," Robertson said. "We are a bit stronger and we are playing much better cricket right now. I don't think we played well earlier in our innings and I don't see us making the same mistake twice."

Adrian Doctor, coach of Dunoon, said: "We will be definitely trying to wrap of the JC innings as quickly as possible today and assesses the situation from then on. "Our aim is to get an outright victory ... day one is now behind us."
