The operating capability of the Stolen Motor Vehicle Unit of the island's police force has been bolstered by the donation of a motor vehicle by British Caribbean Insurance Company (BCIC).The announcement was made by managing director of BCIC, Leslie Chung, at a recent function at the Terra Nova Hotel in Kingston to launch Lady Max, the newest in the company's range of innovative products.
Mr. Chung said that, as chairman of the Fraud Subcommittee of the Insurance Association of Jamaica, he was very aware of the key role that the Stolen Motor Vehicle Unit and related agencies play in controlling motor vehicle related crimes and general breaches of the relevant laws.
"BCIC, as part of our corporate responsibility, supports the police in insurance-related and funda-mental aspects of their work and in the past have provided awards for graduates under the Accident Scene Reconstruction Unit and therefore the donation of the motor vehicle can only further assist in their crime-solving capabilities," Mr. Chung said.
He said BCIC would also undertake to provide comprehensive insurance for the vehicle for one year at a sum insured of $1 million. This level of insurance coverage ensures that, in the event of the loss of the vehicle, the unit may be replaced.
Unprecedented policy
With regard to the Lady Max policy, Mr. Chung explained, "Lady Max is an unprecedented, security-focused comprehensive motor insurance policy for lady-driven vehicles valued at $2 million and over and incorporates the unique additional feature of vehicle tracking for anti-theft security, recovery and retrieval."
The Lady Max policy also provides a range of features such as islandwide emergency breakdown service, ambulance and wrecker service in the event of an accident, $250,000 Personal Accident Insurance and efficient repairs management through the BCIC ASSIST Care Centre.
