A reflection of immaturity
published: Sunday | March 4, 2007

The Editor, Sir.,

After reading the article entitled 'Self-styled prophets' on Sunday, February 18, if it is true, it grieves my heart to see the saints fleeced by this 'self-styled prophet'. However, blame should not be laid only on the people (the sheep) who are easily led, but on the pastor who opened up the church to a clear hireling.

It is not the church that should be asked to pay the bill of J$30,000.00 but the pastor for allowing such a ministry to the congregation and failure to protect the sheep - the work of a true shepherd. He should have stopped the meeting and run out the 'prophet', when he saw what was happening.

We talk about judgment on the nation, but this really is judgment on a church, which majors on sensationalism, gimmicks and personality cults.

It is also a reflection on the immaturity of the saints and their gullibility in wanting a word so badly, without discernment. Yours in Christ,

I am, etc.,

Locksley Smith
