Daahlings, it's the age of Pisces, as this the 12th sign of the Zodiac is in full swing with some of fab-society's finest celebrating their special day this period, and sweet-things how!
To begin with, today, linguist extraordinaire, the lovely Lilly Scherer, is celebrating the first anniversary of her 40th birthday. Yesterday it was all about social diva and reigning dowager empress Lorna Myers, who celebrated yet another year with an intimate gathering of friends and family at her Long Lane residence!
It was also an intimate do for legal powerhouse Angie Fowler, on Wednesday, as she celebrated her special day with family and friends at her St. Andrew home.
On Tuesday, however, it was Miss Kennedy Levee, who celebrated her special day. And it was a family affair as she was the guest of honour at Montego Bay's latest and hottest restaurant - Wine With Me - on the Hip-Strip as mom and dad, Kevin and Cecile Levee, along with her sibling, Spencer Levee, joined her in celebrating her 10th year. No wine here for the budding debutante, but honeys, she is still raving about her birthday menu!
Stephenson's special day
Now on Sunday, People's National Party power-player Robert Stephenson will celebrate his special day, opting here to mark the occasion with the love of his life - the fabulous Melsah Riley, at their Florida home - with a Jamaican reception to follow!
On Monday though, it will be all systems go for the absolutely fabulous-looking Janet Farrow, of the Jamaica Redevelopment Foundation Incorporated, who will mark the first anniversary of her legendary 50th birthday celebrations last year that were soooo fine, people are still talking about.
Though no such grand celebrations this year in terms of scope, there will be ashortlist of critically hand-picked friends on hand to mark this anniversary, upon her return to the island over the weekend.
The following day, however, reigning social empress and the grande dame of Le Corps Consulair, Thalia Lyn, will mark her special day, at an intimate soiree, to be hosted by hubby Captain Michael Lyn, at their fabulous St. Andrew home.
Also celebrating on Tuesday is the charmingly lovely Shelly James. Here, however, the celebrations will be say, a little previous, as they will take place tomorrow at Gaucho's in New Kingston, as family and friends will gather to break bread and make merry, along with hubby Zifus James, to mark the very special milestone!
No word yet as to just how many candles will be on the birthday cake, but the word here is given another year or two, and her birthday will no longer be on the calendar!
Cheerios all around, y'all, and champagne toasts with Beluga treats!
The Year of Pulse

Then, my daahlings, if you can't tell as yet that 2007 is the 'Year of Pulse' then you have not been reading the tea leaves. The Kingsley Cooper-headed outfit, now managed by the charming Romae Gordon, is not only shooting past the stars, it's all set to 'Rock Your World'' and then some!
It's only the first week of March and already everything is coming up Pulse and nothing but already they have had a triumphant London launch of Caribbean Fashion Week 2007 in mid-February. And, there's continuing success for models like Nell Robinson who landed the prestigious Victoria Secret '07 campaign, and Jaunel McKenzie who continues to rack up international runway miles, as the daahling of the world top designers. She's also the toast of the fashion paparazzi, who snap up her every appearance on and off the catwalks.
Anyway me daahlings, what is clear is that Pulse is off to a fabulous start, unveiling new and exciting products while revamping existing products, much to the delight and satisfaction of the fashion-hungry population.
Luvs, one common refrain, expressed with varying degrees of clarity (as is to be expected) by both members of the ruling social politburo and the denizens of the sub-cultural streetwise, is how boring the entertainment scene has become! For the sub-literate dancehall 'te-tess', the refrain is: 'Mi boring yuh see', meaning I am bored, and or the more common: 'Nutten naw gwan', which speaks not necessarily to an absence of economic activity as is interpreted elsewhere, but to the fact that for the most part, Kingston, a vibrant city from the days of pirates until today, has grown a little stagnant in the way of diverse entertainment offerings. Unless of course one is satisfied by the tiresome diet of vulgar, barely literate people who pass for artistes and their even more vulgar followers, who, if it weren't for their ignorance, would by now have got it.
'Artistes'
The 'artistes' they all are 'bigging-up', have little more than disdain and contempt for them, as evidenced by the vitriol they spew at everything and everybody who does not smell, dress, and or behave in their prescribed manner!
Anyway my daahlings, on Tuesday last week, Pulse, invited members of the media and a special group of friends to the Jonkanu Lounge of Kingston's hottest hotel - The Hilton - to unveil its latest entertainment offering, as well as to introduce this year's bevy of beauties vying for the coveted Miss Jamaica Universe crown.
Luvs, it was Pulse at its best, offering the very best of Jamaica's music, fashion and beauty in a three-day spectacular for a world audience beginning Wednesday, March 14 and continuing on March 16 and 18. It showcases some of reggae's hottest superstars and premier dancehall acts headlining three nights of concerts, and the very best of Jamaica's fashion supermodels and beauty queens of the past.
Daahlings, we are talking about a three-night sizzler here, of hot bods; high-flying, hot-stepping Pulse supermodels in a Caribbean Fashion Week preview of some of the hottest bodies ever to grace runways anywhere. Then add to that the much-lauded talents of Beres Hammond and Buju Banton, just two of the confirmed acts set to set for 'Rock The World' from the One Love Reggae Village, at the Cable and Wireless Golf Academy, smack in the middle of New Kingston. You know we are talking an entertainment package that even the most jaded among us will enjoy!
Honeys, hot models strutting their fab stuff on runways, for hot designers! The best of reggae and dancehall on stage! Fashionistas and the fashionable! Beauties past and present! An expected international audience - not to mention the world press. Now y'all tell me, what is there not to like about this big event from March 14 to 18?
My daahlings, come hell and or high water, I will be there as this is the kind of event that one simply can't miss! Well my daahlings, the three-day event promises history in the making, through the fusion of reggae, fashion and dance. Pumpkins, y'all have got to put me down for this one!
And, so my daahlings, let the games begin!
