Wadadah, Reno in 1-1 tie
published: Monday | March 12, 2007

Downswell

Reno, on a high since winning the second end-of-round final in the Wray and Nephew Premier League, were brought back to earth yesterday when they were held to a 1-1 tie by Wadadah at Frome.

Home team Reno went ahead in the 15th when Martin Williams converted from an acute angle after Fabian Blake dismissed two Wadadah defenders near the corner flag.

Wadadah earned their all-important goal in the 66th when Rohan Reid slammed his penalty shot past Kendrick Blair in goal.

A disappointed Wendell Downswell, technical director of Reno, blamed the draw on missed chances. He said that a number of chances were created so the team will have to get back in training and correct this problem.

Previous plans

"Our intention was to start here on a positive note and since we didn't do that, so we will have some catching up to do," Downswell said.

Wadadah's assistant coach Alrick Gillette was pleased with the result ,saying he did not expect to beat Reno.

"Knowing that Reno had just won the end-of-round final, we knew that they would have much confidence, so we decided that getting a point would be a good result. We did not come to win, but not to go home without a point."
