published: Tuesday | March 13, 2007

ST JOHN'S, Antigua (CMC):

Antigua & Barbuda's four telecommunications providers have increased their network capacity to ensure reliable service when the country hosts matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) in the next few weeks, a government statement said.

Cable & Wireless, an official sponsor of the CWC, Jamaica-based Digicel, the Antiguan government-owned, APUA PCS and the local privately-run ACT have either installed new cell sites or will be operating mobile sites in the vicinity of the match venue.

"Cable & Wireless, ACT, Digicel and APUA PCS have been expanding their network capacity and their services around the island," Minister of State with responsibility for Telecommunications and Information Technology, Dr. Edmond Mansoor, said in the statement.
