Traffic changes on CWC match days

With the first match in the ICC Cricket World Cup starting today, the police are reminding the public that the following roads in the Corporate Area will be closed between 4:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on match days during Cricket World Cup:

Watt Street and North Avenue

Conrad Lane and North Avenue

Vincent Street and Anderson Road

Hart Street and Stanford Street

Woodford Street and South Camp Road

Seaforth Street and South Camp Road

Goodwin Park Road and South Camp Road

Emmaville Crescent and South Camp Road

Norman Road and South Camp Road

Text Lane and North Street

Price Lane and North Street

Lissant Road and North Street

South Camp Road at North Melbourne Road

South Camp Road at North Emerald Road

Only limited access will be permitted on the following roads where moveable barriers, manned by security personnel will be placed:

South Camp Road at South Woodford Street

South Camp Road at North Andrews Lane (above hardware)

North Street, east of Wildman Street

Stanford Street, south of Liverpool Street

On Locket Avenue, west of West Avenue

Great Georges Street, north of North Avenue

Arnold Road, north of Campbell Street

Anderson Street, south of Woodford Street

Blake Road and North Street

Rosemount Avenue and South Camp Road

Emmaville Crescent and South Camp Road

Glenmore Road and South Camp Road.

... What to carry, what not to carry

Spectators attending today's first cricket match at Sabina Park might not be able to experience cricket as they are used to. Jamaica Cricket 2007 Limited has put in a number of prohibitions and restrictions. Here is a list of what you can't carry into the venue and what you can't do.

Do not take:

Alcoholic beverages

Cans, tins or plastic bottles, other than containers for medication, insect repellant or sunscreen

Explosives

Firearms or imitation firearms

Fireworks

Flagpoles

Flares

Illegal drugs or narcotics (including ganja)

Incendiary (explosive) devices

Knives

Mace

Megaphones, including compressed air or gas operated horns

Pepper spray

Restricted Items

Aerosol cans (other than those containing deodorant, medication or insect repellant)

Banners and flags exceeding 60" x 40" which could restrict the view of others.

Cooler boxes (other than those soft and collapsible and not larger than 12"x 12"x 12")

Glass containers

Radios (other than small transistor radios used with earphones)

Umbrellas (other than collapsible personal types - no golf beach or such larger types)

Any substance or item which is dangerous or offensive, disruptive or likely to infringe the rights, safety or security of any person.

Patrons attending the matches will be subject to search and prohibited items or restricted items (other than exceptions) will be confiscated. This is in accordance with the terms and conditions under which ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 tickets are sold.

Accredited concessionaires who will operate at match venues are to be advised that a delivery period is in place for entry into the respective venues on match days, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon and 2:45 p.m.-4:15 p.m. and are to make very effort to comply with these schedules.
