Melbourne to host panel discussion

Melbourne Cricket Club will host a two-hour panel discussion at the club on Friday, March 16, starting at 7 p.m.

There will be two topics. One will be on who the greatest West Indies batsman of all-time is. The other will be on who the greatest West Indies bowler of all-time is.

There will be six panellists. They include Caribbean cricket writers and commentators, Tony Becca and Tony Cozier, Dr. Christine Cummings of the University of the West Indies, Pat Gibson of the Times in London, and former Jamaica captain and West Indies batsman Easton McMorris. Gibson has been covering the West Indies since 1974. The moderator for the Cable & Wireless-sponsored event will be Simon Crosskill.

Panellists will focus on the claims to greatness of batsmen like George Headley, Everton Weekes, Clyde Walcott, Frank Worrell, Gary Sobers, Rohan Kanhai, Viv Richards, and Brian Lara, and bowlers like Wes Hall, Lance Gibbs, Sonny Ramadhin, Alfred Valentine, Andy Roberts, Michael Holding, Joel Garner, Malcolm Marshall, Courtney Walsh and Curtley Ambrose.
