Jamaica, no problem?!
published: Wednesday | March 14, 2007

THE EDITOR, Sir:

A-bAAY-YAH! A-baay-yah! Night after night the reactionary fringe like the television news stations seemingly scour the most backward countries of the world and show us dismal heartbreaking pictures and stories of sick-unto-death (black) people begging for emergency life-saving medical attention; begging for decent roads, houses, water, light and transport; begging for "Justice! Justice! We want justice".

Surely, they are not showing/ talking about Jamaica; not Jamaica where we are spending eight (and counting) billion dollars on a one-of-a-kind sports event. Not Jamaica where "Just 48 hours before the official opening of the ICC Cricket World Cup, preparations continued with the commissioning of two helicopters to the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) Air Wing yesterday. The new Bell 407 helicopters, a cost of US$14.1 million (J$944 million)".

A-baay-yah! to that Muttering Nabob who keeps repeating that the Finance Minister says 'a don't have the money'. This is Jamaica!

I am, etc.,
