No excuse!
published: Wednesday | March 14, 2007

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM sick and tired of people making excuses for bad sexual practices in Jamaica. There are laws about the age of consent to have sexual intercourse, 16 I believe. Therefore, it does not matter if a child of 11,12, 13 or younger approaches an adult in a sexual manner. It is up to the adult to behave in a mature fashion.

A lot of men in Jamaica in defence of their brutish behaviour claim that young girls approach them. So what? Exercise restraint. In my opinion, it is because they get away with little or no punishment why big men continue to abuse our children.

Men are meant to be the protectors of women and children. However, in many instances, they are our biggest foes. What a sad, sad situation.

I am, etc.,
