Irie TV, a subsidiary of Irie Jam Media Group of New York, said it has brokered a deal with Golden Krust Bakery to beam 24 hours of television and cable content to the chain's 110 stores.
Irie TV will broadcast news, sports and entertainment content on specially installed LCD and plasma televisions, starting April 1, a release announcing the deal outlined.
Irie Jam chief executive, Bobby Clarke, expects that this new digital signage platform, to be called GKTV, will have a potential audience of about 350,000 per week, equivalent to customer visits to Golden Krust stores.
GKTV will be an "all Caribbean" network, broadcasting content from providers in Jamaica - CVM TV and Hype TV - as well as Trinidad, Guyana, Barbados, Antigua and in the United States, said the release.
Golden Krust is owned by Lowell Hawthorne.
