Spanish Town needs help
published: Friday | March 16, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

I would love to know what is happening to Spanish Town - the rejected town of Jamaica. We should all be ashamed of what Spanish Town looks like. Spanish Town has been treated as anoutcast. The scene in Spanish Town is one of dirty water, foul smells and garbage. When will someone come along to spend taxpayers' money on the right things and set the right goals?

From I can remember, Spanish Town has been like this. People pass through and those who can't stomach it pass on the outskirts. But when will we wake up and treasure the history that Spanish Town has to offer, not just to us Jamaicans, but the world at large?

So I am calling upon the so-called leaders of this nation in all areas to start doing something about Spanish Town. It cannot stay like this. We can't wait until the world media shows us up. Spanish Town - an oilfield ready to be explored and refined.

I am, etc.,
