WESTERN BUREAU:

Odette and Godfrey Dyer enjoyed four days of bliss with 12 of their best friends, who all joined them on a Carnival Cruise Line Caribbean honeymoon after their wedding in the west. Mrs. Dyer will be remembered as the beautiful bride whose charm, effervescent smile and easy-going attitude were enough to light up any room.

It was a flawless ceremony witnessed by some 120 guests at the elegant Grand Lido Negril on Saturday, March 3. Dyer, who remained one of Montego Bay's eligible bachelors for several years, tied the knot with the woman who found the way to his heart through his stomach.

They met two years ago, even before he knew she was a chef extraordinaire. His first encounter with his stunning St. Catherine-born remains bride remains embedded in his mind.

"Her grace, poise, and beauty were remarkably outstanding. She caught my eye and captured my heart at first sight. It was clear to see she possessed a reservoir of substance. Her magnetism took hold of me and her unconditional love and loyalty cemented my fate. It was inevitable she would become my bride and forever be by my side," said Dyer.

Debonair statesman

For Odette Dyer, her husband's confident smile, highlighted by the twinkle in his eyes, reflected an illustrious, charming, debonair statesman. "I recognised sincerity, love and a passion for life. He reached deep into my soul and ignited an emotion I never knew I had."

When Dyer was severely burnt in an accident nearly two years ago, Mrs. Dyer proceeded to feed her man back to life, "with a healthy dose of love and curried chicken (one of his favourites)," boasted her friend Metty Scarlett-Jones during her toast to the bride.

The couple's children, Gary, Andrew, Marlene and Derrick Dyer, Jelani and Jahneel Howell, the groom's mother Amy Morgan, were among the selected close friends and family invited to this fabulous celebration of life and love.

The guest list also included: Opposition Leader Bruce Golding, who returned from his Atlanta trip for the occasion, close family friends Epel and Pearline Sandford, Valerie Howitt, Neville Haynes and wife Thelma, Vandyke McKenzie, who wrote two toasts for the groom, MC Sam James and wife Yvonne, Joyce McKenzie - generous with her camera; Lloyd Distant Sr., and wife Angella, bringing laughter to the Las Vegas table, Phyllis and Gordon Marzouca, Jeff and Joyce Anderson, Fred Smith, William Rodgers, Winston and Denise Dear, Angelie and Timothy Spencer, Mariane and Loren Edwards, George and Lyn Holloway, Beverly and Robert Russell, Johnny and Le-Anne Gourzong, Nicolette Mudie, Tanesha Salmon, Tyherrona Williams, singer Judy Emmanuel who won the hearts of guests, George Thomas and Andrea Lyle, Cheryl Atkinson, Peter and Shauna Webster, Dr. Horace Chang and wife Paulette, Edmund and Carmen Bartlett, Dr. Wykeham McNeill, Vee Redpath and Richard Whitfield, Senator Noel Sloley and wife Sharron, Michael Hicks, Barry and Barbara Baugh, Jasmin Tomlinson Brown and Owen, John Morris and Paulella Reid Morris, Dr. John Gordon and wife Ivano and Bernadette Barnes.
