'The Lost City', a sweeping love story
published: Thursday | March 22, 2007

In's Sastre (left) stars as Aurora Fellove and Academy Award nominee Andy Garcia as Fico Fellove in 'The Lost City'.

The Lost City marks the directorial debut of Oscar nominee, Andy Garcia, who also stars in this passionate and historical tribute to his native Cuba.

Set against the backdrop of late '50s/early '60s Havana, Cuba, the film recounts the city as a place of pleasure for many, but one with which others are unhappy under the rule of dictator Fulgencio Batista. As the revolutionary forces of Fidel Castro (Gonzalo Menendez) and Ernesto 'Che' Guevara (Jsu Garcia) prepare to move on Havana, Fico Fellove (Andy Garcia), owner of the city's classiest music nightclub - El Tropico - finds himself in a struggle to hold together his family and the love of a woman, Aurora Fellove (In's Sastre), not knowing that his club will become more than just a stage for popular entertainment. Though Fico watches a culture vanish and a people transformed, it is his love of Cuban music that keeps his memories alive.

The Lost City also stars double Academy Award winner, Dustin Hoffman, Elizabeth Pea and Tony Plana. Garcia co-wrote the screenplay with Guillermo Cabrera Infante.
