The 'Party Animal' an inspired beast
published: Friday | March 23, 2007

FAME DJ Kurt 'The Party Animal' Riley. - File

Andre Jebbinson, Staff Reporter

Kurt 'The Party Animal' Riley from FAME FM is one of the biggest names in the business and is quite sought after, especially when it comes to delivering soca or Latin music. Since he is 'The Party Animal', the appropriate place to have him is in The Zoo on Saturdays between 9 p.m. and midnight. If you miss him then, you can also catch Riley from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday for Retroactive Wednesdays.

How did you get started in the media?

I got started in media through Rosmond Brown, who was employed to FAME at the time. She was impressed with how I played and invited me to play on a boat ride for FAME. She then asked me to be a part of the FAME team and I said yes, and here I am blazing with the 95. Fire!

What is your dream job?

My dream job is what I'm doing right now. Music is larger than life and there's no place I'd rather be.

What is your best moment working in the media?

My best moment always is knowing that I can inspire people through the music that I play, making people happy, allowing them to forget their problems even for that moment. For example, I have people calling me at the radio station saying they don't feel like living anymore, they've given up, but the music touched them in such a way that they know things will work out. That's my best moment.

Have you been faced with negative remarks?

Oh yeah, and that I know will never stop.

If not radio, what would you be doing?

If not radio, I would be producing music full-time.

What is your favourite show (local or international)?

None in particular.

Who are your favourite media personalities (local or international)?

Ron Muschette from IRIE FM. I think he has the most down-to-earth personality on radio.

What turns you off about people?

People who lack manners and people who are always negative.

If you could meet any one person, who would he/she be?

I would like to meet the Honourable Portia Simpson Miller. I have a few questions for her.

What is one thing that people would be surprised to know about you?

People would be surprised to know that I'm a good cook and that I love cartoons.
