ZJ Liquid flows on Zip

Michael 'ZJ Liquid' Brissett used a table for his favourite subject, technical drawing, when he attended Cornwall College in Montego Bay. These days, though, he is using a different table, a turntable. Those wishing to feel the heat can catch him Tuesday to Sundays on Zip 103 FM Zip Heat from 2 to 6 p.m.

The Gleaner: How did you get started in the media?

Liquid: I am originally from Montego Bay and I use to play at Pier One on Fridays. It used to be the big thing before Margaritaville. At the Friday ting tourists come weh dem can party and feel safe. I use to hang around Mr. Russell, who was the part owner of Hot 102, and the station never really have any party vibes. I went to him and asked him about it and from there it's was just mad music.

What is your dream job?

Originally I wanted to be an architect, but the music just inna me now.

What is your best moment working in the media?

When you go to a party and hear some of the songs and see some of the artistes you believed in before.

Have you been faced with negative remarks?

In everything you have the good and the bad. The percentage of the negatives I can't tell you. I don't listen to them. I listen to some of the bad criticism because it can help you, but I don't take it to heart.

If not radio, what would you be doing?

Architecture

What is your favourite show (local or international)?

CSI, any one of them. I also watch Law and Order.

Who are your favourite media personalities (local or international)?

DJ Wayne from IRIE FM. Fae Ellington, I like watching her on TV.

What turns you off about people?

I like when people just come up front. You don't need to put on, because people will find it out anyway.

If you could meet any one person, who would he/she be?

P. Diddy

What is one thing that people would be surprised to know about you?

Mi love cook. Mi kinda like food like that. I would love to open a restaurant.
