Miss Joan prepares a hearty meal in Mango Valley, St. Mary.- Photo by Robert Lalah The following are feedback letters to our popular Roving With Lalah feature, which is published every Thursday.
Dear Robert:
Mango Valley is all I need now! For real! I have just finished reading your article on Mango Valley. It sounds like a model community to me. I admire the effort the dwellers display in helping each other with their projects.
Mango Valley seems like a peaceful place. I am feeling it right now!
I see myself lying on a piece of crocus bag under a tree with a good book while the sun and breeze pelt my body and every now and again see a meagre dog walk by, or a rooster chasing a hen.
Your article is like a breath of fresh air especially after getting off those crammed trains in New York City. I giggled at your reporting of the women's conversation denouncing the younger girls and their culinary abilities.
And, of course, one of the women's jovial attempt to set a St. Mary girl on you. Ha! Haa!
I am, etc.,

I am a real St. Mary woman!Dear Robert:
I really, really loved your article today. Since Iam a St. Mary woman,
I love what Ms. Yvonne had to say. I can peel banana and cook just about everyting, so you need to link me or else I'm going to set the two St. Mary women on you!
I am, etc.,

All is not lost in JamaicaDear Robert:
Just a note of congratulations on your 'Roving with Lalah' newspaper articles.
Your work offers glimpses and perspectives into a Jamaica that is not popularly known, but very much a reality in our West Indian-lived experience.
Your work strongly suggests that all is not lost to crime and violence in our societies and that community spirit and neighbourly friendship are still the hallmark of Jamaican, and by extension, West Indian societies!
Keep up the excellent work!
