The yellow and black of Chancellor Hall was waved boldly and proudly on Friday, March 23, as two more former residents of the hall were inducted as Super Lions.

The award has been presented annually for the past 35 years and seeks to laud the old boys who have excelled in their respective areas of work and life. The lions who were inducted this year were Dr. Errol Daley and Prof. Rupert Lewis. Both men considered it a humbling honour to be recognised by their hall.

"It was kind of peculiar that I ended up at Chancellor, being a Cornwall College old boy," said Dr. Daley, as he stated that most CC grads usually ended up at Taylor Hall. He also credited the hall's officials for preparing the young men for life, and didn't regret a single day.

"I'm happy to have been on Chancellor. I've always supported them and continue to do so," he said. Meanwhile, Prof. Lewis, who lived on hall from 1965 to 1968, recalled the days of camaraderie and togetherness.

"It was very formal back then with the dinners like meeting the warden and so on. Then there were the cocktail receptions and, of course, there were the initiations which were fun," he smiled. He also spoke briefly about his work in student journalism when he edited such editions as Impact, Bungo Man and the campus publication, Scope.

Provides opportunity

The Super Lion dinner also provides the perfect opportunity for present males of Chancellor (affectionately referred to as cubs), to be honoured for their academic and sporting exploits during the school year. The young cubs also get the chance to mingle with some of their esteemed predecessors.

Guests included former Governor of St. Kitts Sir Probyn Inniss and wife Lady Rosamund Inniss; Dr. Lennox Matadial and wife Daphne; Michael Clarke, Sharmaine Mitchell, Richard and Lisa Chen; Dr. Winston Davidson and wife; Leighton Morrison; and Prof. Hugh Wynter.
