A sum of $400 million has been allocated to the Ministry of National Security to facilitate the construction and improvement of police stations and other buildings.

Details of the allocation are given in the 2007/08 Estimates of Expenditure, now before the House of Representatives.

The sum is to cover the cost of repairs and maintenance of selected police stations and buildings, and includes $220 million to complete the construction of the Falmouth Police Station in Trelawny.

There is also an amount of $400 million in the estimates for the purchase of equipment and stores for the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). This provision includes $353.4 million for the payment of the Automated Palm and Fingerprint system and the Integrated Ballistic Information System. These systems were supplied in the financial year 2005/06.
